To the south-east of Houston, Texas in what is known as Trinity Bay there is a man-made island. The island is exactly one mile long and three quarters of a mile wide and is oriented diagonally with the length lying in a north-west to south-east direction. The island’s name was changed to Peacemaker Island when the superhero team, the Peacemakers officially purchased it for the purpose of transforming it into their headquarters in the year 1953.
Originally the headquarters of the Peacemakers was located in the heart of the city of Houston. Due to frequent attacks on the headquarters and the threat those attacks was to the city’s population and collateral damage caused to surrounding buildings and businesses the city of Houston issued a notice to the team that they were no longer allowed to maintain their headquarters in the city. However, out of thanks for the super hero team’s protection and service to the city, Houston aided the team in finding an appropriate property nearby for a new headquarters to be built upon.
Peacemaker Island is now one of the most secure locations on the planet. It’s defenses have been continually improved to be beyond the state of the art in defensive technology often incorporating technologies originating from extraterrestrial or transdimensional origins. The headquarters building is located in the center of the island and is of a post-modern architectural design often referred to as Atom-punk or Jetsons-style by the average citizen. Residences are provided for each member and reserve member of the Peacemakers although most do not live on the premises full-time.
Peacemaker Island has hangars and docking bays for a myriad of vehicles ranging from air, land and sea to even space travel equipped vehicles. Each vehicle has the prefix of “Peace” before it’s name. A practice that has been frequently ridiculed or joked about by both journalists and Peacemaker members for decades, yet has not been discontinued. It has been recorded that there are Peacejets, Peacetanks, Peaceshuttles, and even Peacesubs. At one point the Peacemakers employed a massive negative energy cannon to deflect the approach of a planet-ending asteroid which had been flung towards Earth by the cosmic being known as Nexar. After its successful deployment media outlets around the world referred to the cannon as the Peaceshooter, which promptly became popularly called the Pea-shooter in jest.
Peace Island has at times been outfitted with refugee housing for individuals fleeing from evil regimes both Earth centered and extraterrestrial. It also has regular tours of its public places which include the foyer of the Peacemaker Headquarter building, a museum that houses non-lethal mementos from past Peacemaker adventures, retired uniforms, unsalvageable Peacemaker vehicles, and video and virtual history displays of Peacemaker exploits.
