History:
In the early 1930's Jude, married, one child a year old and another on the way was working in Chicago for a business that was mismanaged. Jude was habitually berated by his bosses but needed the job to support his family. He day dreamed about writing radio dramas with heroes like he listened to nightly with his wife. Extremely frustrated with his job and the fact that he didn't use his latent and significant physical gifts, Jude would secretly write his stories during slow times at work. A secretary at work enjoyed teasing Jude for his stories, often flirting with him to see what kind of reactions he would exhibit. He would later discover that she was a not so secret prostitute who took the job to get out of the life but coordinates parties for the business owners with other prostitutes. She is friendly and sympathetic with Jude and harbors a desire to someday have a man like him in her life. Jude was a straight shooter, loved his wife and was devoted to her.
A new guy started working at the business; rough, looking like a boxer. The man was hired to "help with the books" but did little to nothing related to the accounts. He frequently bullied Jude during and after work hours and one night it turned physical. Jude discovered his own tipping point. Lying on the ground, nose bloodied and jaw aching he got up and decided enough was enough, beating the tar out of the guy, much to the surprise of himself, and the bully. Eventually over the next few weeks the two men came to terms and over an after work beer the bully confessed to Jude of being a Hitman for the Mobsters who actually ran the business. The lead mobster, had put his nephews and son, who are weak and not "in the game," in charge of the business to launder money. Jude had been wondering how the business could stay afloat. The hitman told Jude that he took the job as a way to get revenge on the Mobsters who'd killed his girl in a shoot out. Seeing Jude as a potential ally in his cause he asked him for help. That's when it starts to get interesting. Together they begin to explore the limits of Jude's photographic reflexes by visiting boxing venues and travelling circuses. At the same time they plotted how to bring down the mobsters' organization. Together they were successful, but not without tragedy. The night they brought down the head man Jude's friend and ally was fatally shot. Knowing they had won and his girl was avenged he man had Jude swear that he wouldn't stop fighting for peace, that he'd find others who were special like himself and try to make the world a place where innocents like his girl wouldn't get hurt.
Years down the road, Jude and his super powered friend, Head Hancho met a returned missionary from Africa with a secret power, a woman who could run as fast as the wind, and a godlike being with the power of the sun. Relentless and convincing he, Head Hancho and these other super powered people formed the first Peacemakers.
Shortly after their formation, the Peacemakers, led by Jude who was then calling himself The Fist, helped the United States Armed Forces in World War II. He served with the Peacemakers for years before deciding it was time to retire and let the new members lead the way to peace. Jude continued to consult with the Peacemakers as needed when old enemies returned and his knowledge was needed.
On his 87th birthday he passed away in peace and was buried in a normal cemetery by his family and an unusually large number of friends "from out of town."
