History: For millennia there has always been an avatar of the sun god. The names for both the sun god and the avatar have been numerous depending on the culture, their mythologies and language differences. The avatar is chosen from all of humanity by the sun god itself and has traditionally been someone who has great wisdom, but this has not always been the case, nor has it always been male or female. Once chosen the individual receiving the mantle of the sun god’s avatar is introduced to their terrestrial throne, a reflection of the sun god’s celestial throne and are given a brief explanation of their powers. At the end of the day long process they are given a riddle and then left alone to live their lives as they see fit. Some of the avatars have devoted their existence to solving the riddle, seeing it as a divinely granted plan for their purpose in being chosen. Others have abused the power they’ve been gifted and lived lives of selfish abandon. Upon being granted the mantle of the sun god their mortal form becomes immortal and they may take their human form at will only dying as a result of irreparable damage through violence or sacrifice. At the rise of the sun the following day of the death of the avatar the sun god visits its next human of choice and bestows them with the mantle of the sun god, a new sanctum and the emerald throne.
The most recent avatar went by the name of Sol and was given the mantle at some point during the industrial revolution. The man was a native of what is modern day Turkey but at the time was called the Ottoman empire. He was highly active during both world wars and considered himself a world hero identifying with a global citizenship rather than championing only one region of the globe. The serial killer known as 86 was able to track Sol to a sweet shop in London which the hero regularly visited. Sol was killed by 86 using a unique tracer gun or disc gun which fired United States pennies all from the year 1986 at lethal velocities. There were no other individuals harmed during the attack.
The current avatar of the sun god also goes by the name Sol and is physically indistinguishable from the previous avatar. His superhero activity is much less due to his relatively new status.
